Artist Information
"I specialize in images that catch your eye and hold you captive - those
rare and fleeting moments that stop you in your tracks and leave you glad to be alive.
My hope is to connect the viewer with the image, visually and emotionally".
My career in photography evolved from my first career as an Ohio State Trooper and then a Detective Sergeant with the Canton, Ohio Sheriff's Department. Those jobs required me to photograph scenes we do not wish to see, from traffic fatalities to homicides. After retiring from police work, I returned to Kent State University, where I had previously earned a B.A. in Law Enforcement Administration. This time I studied Art Appreciation, Art History, Psychology of the Arts and Photography at the College of Fine Art - thus, the transition from photographing sordid scenes of human tragedy and violence to images of tranquility found in the quiet magnificence of nature.
I have participated in hundreds of art shows around the country and have earned many awards such as Best of Show, First Place Art, and First Place Photography.
